What is Single-Ply?
EPDM/PVC/TPO is usually laid as a single sheet typically 0.8 to 1.6mm thick. The rubber often looks and feels like the inner tube of a tire. It is usually white or black in colour. The EPDM/PVC/TPO is attached to the roof with mechanically fastened bars or buttons. The roofing membrane is adhered to the underlayment, which typically consists of a vapour barrier, Poly ISO insulation and/or Fiberboard insulation, Finally, the gravel ballast protects the EPDM/PVC/TPO from deteriorating influences of the ultra-violet light caused by the sun, and erosion due to wind, snow, hail and rain.
